Therefore, I have attempted the unthinkable: "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Dimir Blink relying on a six-mana commander."},{"insert":"\n\nIf I see someone playing Vela the Night-Clad, they're almost always playing an intimidate-based strategy that relies on colorless creatures to push through and win. This time, let's focus instead on her second line of text, which pings every opponent each time a creature you control leaves the battlefield. Our objective is simple: "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"bounce our creatures into our hand, exile zone, and graveyard until our enemies die by 1,000 cuts. "},{"insert":"(No, we're not running Death of a Thousand Stings. There are goofy cards in this list, but we still have standards.)\n\nEven though we're not running white, there are plenty of ways to make our creatures pop in and out for pain, though we're centered mostly in blue as a result. We're running seven instants that blink our creatures, plus staples like Thassa and Conjurer's Closet, to make sure we can push some Vela triggers and get value one way or another. Thunder Junction spoilers also gave us Forger's Foundry, which can exile those blink spells for us to reuse later on. (Since we're running a few 3 and 4-mana blink spells, I opted to cut Isochron Scepter. Also, this deck is incredibly mana-expensive, so most of our 2-drop slot is dedicated to ramp via rocks.)\n\nBut those are just the most obvious, classic ways to play with LTB triggers! Cards with myriad like Dalek Squadron and Auton Soldier will make several new creatures every time they attack, which must then be exiled, so we're obviously running Blade of Selves to make this possible for every creature in the deck (including Vela herself, who will see her duplicates immediately die to the legend rule for even more triggers). Gisa, Glorious Resurrector can steal our opponent's dead creatures and give them decayed so they'll leave the field as quickly as they arrived on our side, while Mirror Match lets us defend from a big attack by making token copies of every attacker -- and the tokens that survive get exiled at the end of combat. Mimic Vat is a classic, bite-sized version of this effect, letting us make a potentially valuable token each turn that will then be exiled; for laughs, let's see if we can make a Voltron player's day worse with Echo Chamber. We also have Grazilaxx and both versions of Barrin to let us bounce creatures to our hand instead of exiling them, a LTB trigger which will then net us a bit more precious card draw. Our wraths are also helpful in getting Vela triggers, so let's go with some lesser-used ones that tie in with our game plan like Decree of Pain and Deadly Tempest; we also have Heartless Conscription from Thunder Junction, which exiles everything and lets us replay the best of the bunch. \n\nAll that being said, even though these effects are fun and can close out a tight game, they're not likely to kill the whole table at once. We're also running a few infinite combo routes, most involving Deadeye Navigator and a partner like Cloud of Faeries to achieve infinite LTB triggers with Vela on board. What I'd personally like to pull off with this deck, however, is perhaps its least likely wincon: "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"going infinite with Faceless Butcher and two clones, both of which exile the Butcher or the other clone to create a loop.
