Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Rest in peace Paradox Engine\nJanuary 20, 2017 - July 8, 2019\n\nIzzet Artifacts deck with Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain at the helm. \n\nAs you'd expect with a Jhoira deck, our goal here is to use Jhoira's triggered ability in combination with low-cost artifacts to quickly draw through our deck, find our win conditions and close out the game. To help us along the way, we have a few cards that reduce the cost of our artifacts as well as a number of non-artifact cards that provide support in various ways:\n\nA number of counterspells as well as Cyclonic Rift help protect our important combo pieces while also preventing other players winning the game."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Mana Severance removes excess land from our deck once we're in a good position for producing mana, improving our draws."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"A handful of tutors to help us find what we need, when we need it."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Dramatic Reversal, which when exiled to Isochron Sceptre produces infinite mana."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Finally, a number of cards that mass-bounce artifacts back to our hand, allowing us to recast them for more Jhoira triggers should we run out of artifacts to cast from hand."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Vedalken Archmage, Riddlesmith and Quicksmith Genius, who serve as replacements for Jhoira should she become unavailable (for example a removal spell like Darksteel Mutation or an overwhelmingly high commander tax)."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nOur primary win condition is Aetherflux Reservoir. With our cheap (and often free thanks to cost reducers) artifacts as well as our powerful card draw engine, it is fairly trivial to cast enough spells to hit the life total required to kill three other players provided you have the means to protect the combo from removal/counters.\n\nOur second win condition is Reckless Fireweaver. Hitting each opponent for 1 damage per artifact might not sound like much but it adds up quickly with the sheer number of artifacts we can cast in one turn. Don't forget that we can bounce our artifacts and recast them with Hurkyl's Recall, Rebuild and Paradoxical Outcome.\n\nOur final win condition is Laboratory Maniac. This is our last resort, as other players will be waiting until you try to trigger his ability before trying to remove him which could cause us to deck out and lose.\n\nWe have a couple of noteworthy combos in the deck:\n\nSensei's Divining Top with Mystic Forge allows us to draw our entire deck for free provided we have at least one cost reducer on the board. Simply tap Sensei's Divining Top to draw a card, then cast Sensei's Divining Top for 0 from our library with Mystic Forge and repeat. This gives us a number of options such as digging for a specific card, decking ourselves out for a Laboratory Maniac win or casting enough spells to win with Aetherflux Reservoir. This combo also works with Reckless Fireweaver in addition to creating more Servos/Thopters with Saheeli/Sai than you can shake a stick at."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Dramatic Reversal generates infinite mana when cast from Isochron Sceptre, provided you have enough mana rocks out to generate at least 3 mana. This can be used to make sure we always have the mana we need to do what we want and also provides infinite spell casts to give us an Aetherflux Reservoir win, or create infinite Servos from Saheeli to bludgeon people with."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Skullclamp provides an additional source of excellent card advantage when applied to Saheeli's Servos or Sai's Thopters."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nAside from that, many of our cheap artifacts also help us achieve our goals. For example, Welding Jar can stop a spell that would destroy Aetherflux Reservoir, Expedition Map can fix our mana, Glaring Spotlight can protect Jhoira and many cards such as Implement of Combustion can draw a card and/or offer another benefit.\n"}]}
