{"ops":[{"insert":"For Christmas this year, our group is doing a White Elephant/Yankee Swap/Nasty Christmas deck swap (your choice of name may vary based on how much of The Office you've watched). I've chosen to go with Hans, as I've suggested him as a Commander to the various members of the group for a while, but nobody has gone for it. A number of the cards included have sat in my own collection for a while, waiting for a perfect home. I think gifting these as part of the deck adds to what makes it so special.\n\nThe budget for this was $30 on tcgplayer. When I first finished the decklist, I was at ~$28. Since then, the deck price has fluctuated up to $32ish, but it's still valid for this project. I'm also planning on updating the list with the foils and alt arts I'm gifting as well - this may affect the price, but as a collector, some of these cards were foiled donations from my collection.\n\nThe deck has a lot of nostalgia for me, as when original Ravnica came out (in 2005!), my initial draw was to the Gruul. The sense of what it means to build and play Gruul in Commander has fallen by the wayside for me (I can't seem to find a Commander I wanted to invest in), but Hans allows a number of awesome cards I remember fondly. Original Borborygmos is kind of a sleeper these days, but I loved being able to Trample over to my opponents and start buffing my side of the field. Including him is a great move for some big battlecruiser Magic, and he fits the colors well. Another old Gruul card is Killer Instinct, something that I always dreamt of playing but never picked up a copy. I'm hoping we get to see it do some work when we exchange decks. Gruul Ragebeast is another Ravnica-based creature I pulled a few of during Gatecrash, but never found a home for. \n\nSince Rise of the Eldrazi (and Battle for Zendikar), I've never really been big on playing Eldrazi. This deck definitely feels like the exception, as being able to cheat one of these guys onto the field seems like it will make whoever plays the deck very happy. Again, most of these guys were just sitting in my collection looking for a home.\n\nDisrupt Decorum is one of my signature Red cards. I put it in all of my Red decks, so I wanted to throw it in here to help keep combat moving as well as hopefully open things up and clear away blockers and help swing for some eliminations. In that same vein, End-Raze Forerunners is another obvious game-ender. Timbermare is kind of an odd sleeper many at the table will probably never have seen - the intent is that Hans flips him up, taps down the board AFTER attackers are declared (so that they are still attacking), and then all the damage will go to a player.\n"}]}
