Description

{"ops":[{"insert":"Do you like taking game actions? So, so many game actions? Do you like using d100s to count your tokens and d20s to count your +1/+1 counters? Do you like ripping through most of your deck, two or three at a time instead of drawing thirty cards at once? Good, because Rocco is hosting a dinner party and I've got an invitation with your name on it.\n\nIt may seem like it's a bit of a mess of too many flavors when it comes to theme, but trust me, it all works together. Counters are the appetizer, sometimes making your creatures tap for more mana, and establishing a bulwark of a boardstate to let you build you advantage in peace. Playing cards from exile is the main course, tying everything else together, and with a buffet of impulsive draw, you can utterly churn through your deck, chaining Showdown of the Skalds into Jeska's Will into Escape to the Wild, into… Then, all the food tokens you make are the dessert. They just sit around, maybe gain you some life if you really need it, but when you find a way to tap them for mana or for damage, suddenly the game is over.\n\nSo sit down, and enjoy the meal. This is my recipe, but of course, flavor to your own tastes.\n\nPower Level:"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"This is far and away the most powerful commander deck I've built. On the (quite flawed) 10 point scale, I might put it at an 8.5 or so. I think it's about as good as one can get without getting into cEDH territory, without adding in any fast mana (Sol Ring aside) or free spells.\n\nVersion 2.2.1 (BLB Release)"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Notable Upgrades: "},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"2 Surveil Lands, Baylen the Haymaker, Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest, Call Forth the Tempest\nUpgrade Notes 2.2.0: "},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Baylen is an insane upgrade for this deck. Having a 4th option to make food (or tokens in general) into mana improves consistency by a lot, and while it may need 2 token per mana, it might still be the best of the bunch. The reasons for this are threefold. First, it produces mana of any color, unlike statuary that only works for colorless, or Jaheira/Night of the Sweets' Revenge which only produce green. Prior, you could easily run into circumstances where you had near-infinite green mana, but without red or white, you had to stop comboing off. Despite the steeper price of 2 tokens per mana, it's not redundant with the others, as Baylen can pay red or white mana, and the others can produce green or colorless at a better rate. Second, being able to use all tokens right away is great. Jaheira only works with creature tokens that are not summoning sick, while the other two only work with artifact or specifically food tokens. And third, Baylen does everything. If you have enough mana and not enough cards, it can dig for more cards, or if you have both of those, it can kill players by itself. I just love this card.\n\nDragonhawk is another great card because it works right away. On a big combo turn, it's a huge draw spell, or perhaps more often, a kill condition. With +1/+1 counters from Rocco, you can carefully make most of your creatures have 4+ power, and then exile 10 cards and deal 20 damage to each player right away, not even accounting for haste.\n\nFinally, surveil lands are an obvious include I'm late in adding, and Call Forth the Tempest, is perhaps the worst of the four one-sided board wipes, but it's still quite good to have one more.\n"}]}
