{"ops":[{"insert":"Back when I first got into Magic and it was time to buy my first booster pack (as opposed to playing decks that were given to me), I bought and Judgement booster and pulled a non-foil Jeska, Warrior Adept. This was a big deal, as there were few legendary creatures, and I was heavily invested in the Odyssey story (despite the current set being Scourge), and I loved the theme with all the legends and the fight for the Mirari. On the wotc website, there was even an article by Jay Moldenhauer-Salazar called \"Hunt for the Mirari\" that was all about building some themed Odyssey block decks for each color and using the Mirari.\n\nFast forward a decade, and I'm going through a bulk rare box at my game store and find a foil Jeska, Warrior Adept. Commander was slowly growing popularity, and after all, this was my first booster rare, so I snagged it, thinking I had a foil copy for whatever I wanted to build down the road. \n\nFast forward almost another decade (geez!) and I learn that artist rk post will be at a shop available to sign cards. I have to figure out what I want signed, but one card stands out to me above all the others I own: my foil Jeska, Warrior Adept. It's sat sleeved and sorted with my other Judgement cards, with little thought about building a deck around her. Could she stand up to all the other legends people are throwing around these days? I never considered it....but you can't have a foil legend signed by the artist and NOT build the deck.\n\nMeeting rk post was a really cool experience. He was a very kind, super laid back person. He seemed surprised to see a foil Jeska, and enjoyed hearing about her being my first rare. He talked about her design as a \"female Kamahl\". I told him I now was going to build a Commander deck around her and he said \"I'm not sure she will be very good....maybe use the Partner Walker and add Black for Phage\". Now, while I get that advice, I didn't want my signed Jeska to be buried in the 99. She needed to be at the forefront. Challenge accepted!\n\nHaving built-in first strike & haste means Jeska can swing in immediately and if you pump her power enough, she can deal with whatever threat gets in her way trying to block her. This might suggest a Voltron build, but I wanted enough other threats so that I don't have to put my eggs all in one basket. That being said, getting a few combat steps with a pump-up Jeska isn't out of the question...and there a number of ways to pump her up significantly.\n\nNeko-Te is a neat trick that allows Jeska to ping and tap down a creature for as long as she's around, which is a pretty neat trick for mono-red. So is giving her Deathtouch, which allows her to defeat any enemy. It slows down the attacking, but sometimes you need to control a few things before swinging in. Don't be afraid to sink some life into Treasonous Ogre for some explosive turns either.\n\nDisrupt Decorum and Chandra's Ignition help make \"board wipes\" more one-sided so that you don't have to rebuild. Disrupt Decorum has always been a pet card of mine, since I've loved playing around with Goad since it was first introduced.\n\nI have noticed I lack instants, which is probably something to consider as I continue playing the deck...but when you can swing massively in combat, you don't have to worry about late game answers as much. As I make edits, I'm hoping some of these options will start to get tweaked as well - I've already noticed that as new cards get released, my drawing options are becoming more instant based.\n\nThere's a few other cards in the deck I'm still tinkering with, but much of the core is exactly where I want it to be. I scored some bonus points by playing a game and having Jeska out and casting Jeska's Will into Jeska, Thrice Reborn, and then swinging in to take a player out....can't beat that! I hope rk post would appreciate what I've turned this into.\n\nEDIT_v1: I swapped in Eomer, Marshal of Rohan for more extra combat potential along with Koth's Courier, which is more of a pet card for me, but since Green tends to run rampant (no pun intended!) in Commander, I wanted to try it as another creature I can throw some Equipment on and swing unhibited for massive amounts of damage (hopefully!).\n\nEDIT_v2: As much as I love the politics behind Roar of Resistance, I don't make enough tokens for the haste to be worth it. So, with the release of LotR, I can now add Combat Celebrant without breaking the bank. Bonus points for being a Warrior, so it will receive a boost from Lovisa Coldeyes.\n\nEDIT_v3: With the various damage doubling effects that are out these days, I don't think Furnace of Rath will cut it, so it is temporarily on the side. Instead, I've replaced it with Call for Aid, a way of hopefully borrowing an army to take out a player while using my army (or Jeska) to take out the player whom I borrowed it from. I'm also cutting Magistrate's Veto for Bedlam. The Veto tends to get me unwanted attention from W & U players who feel they are being treated unfairly. Bedlam lets me go after whoever I need to go after for victory.\n\nEDIT_v4: I've cut Eomer and Frenzied Saddlebrute for Savage Beating and Frontier Warmonger. My concern is that Eomer becomes too situational to try and get an extra combat (and it requires a Legendary creature dying in combat, which feels like it could be a feels bad moment if Jeska bites the dust). The Saddlebrute grants all creatures attacking my opponents haste, which isn't something I really need to help myself; the Warmonger gives all creatures attacking my opponents Menace, which is a keyword Jeska doesn't naturally have. In addition, I've upgraded the art for Pyroblast, as Rowan is one of my favorite 'walkers, and her new Eldraine battle armor is legit.\n\nEDIT_v5: Demand Answers from Murders at Karlov Manor is exactly what this decks wants to see. I think I'm adding it to all of my red decks. Having the option to sacrifice an artifact instead of discarding means I can throw away a treasure or something else that isn't giving me any value. I cut Faithless Looting, as too often I find myself not knowing what two cards I want to discard. This deck has few ways to pull stuff back from the graveyard, so it seems like an easy edit. Also, drop Hero's Heriloom for Beamtown Beatstick. I'd rather be able to get some Treasure and make Jeska more difficult to chump block.\n\nEDIT_v6: Cut Enchanter's Bane for Champion's Helm. So surprised to see the borderless art for such a good price. Enchanter's Bane reads better than it plays, at least for me. Take 3 damage or discard your Ghostly Prison? I think I know what my opponents are going to choose. At least the Helm gives Hexproof and makes Jeska (or any other creature) a bit bigger for 1 mana.\n\nEDIT_v7: Removed a Mountain for Hidden Volcano.
