Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"I love the Demonstrate mechanic because of all of the political and group-hug shenanigans you can get up to. So of course, I wanted to build "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Elda, Conjurer of Spectacle"}},{"insert":". But what if we weren't up to any political schemes or group-hugging? What if instead we found a style of creature we could give away with little to no worry of retaliation?\n\nI landed on walls - creatures that famously cannot attack. Then we play effects that let our creatures deal damage with their toughness, and attack as though they didn't have defender - but we don't give those effects to our opponents. Sure, everyone has walls, but my walls are also battering-rams.\n\nThis deck has a lot of two-mana ramp to get Elda out as early as possible. Then, we cast a mix of walls and other value creatures to set up our defenses, all while giving our opponents 0/4 Defenders they can't do much with. Then we (hopefully) find one of our \"buttstrike\" effects to help us start swinging for massive damage. We also have "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Craterhoof Behemoth"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Moonshaker Cavalry"}},{"insert":" as finishers, which I understand are not the most creative choices, but I found this deck sometimes needs that extra oomf to make up for the fact that we've spent the mid game giving our opponents very good blockers.\n\nOne issue I found was that there's not very many efficient ways of turning off defender in these colors. Most of the best effects are three-color legends, none of which fit into our two-color deck. So I've included a small number of creature tutors to help us find "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Wakestone Gargoyle"}},{"insert":", which is the most efficient of these effects in Selesnya. (I thought about "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rolling Stones"}},{"insert":", but too many of my defenders are not actually Walls). I tried to keep the count low while still keeping the deck functional.\n\nThe deck is fleshed out with some token synergies, and a win-more "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Twinning Staff"}},{"insert":" to double copy our demonstrate cards, as a treat. I wanted the focus to be walls though, so I tried to keep those synergies to a minimum (for example, I excluded "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Nesting Dovehawk"}},{"insert":" because it too easily won the game all by itself, thus invalidating the walls theme entirely).\n\nThank you for taking a look at my submission! I look forward to seeing all of the creative entries in this contest.\n"}]}
