Crew the cars, give them weapons, swing for surprisingly threatening amounts of commander vehicular manslaughter damage. We have a few ways of making the cars creatures permanently because otherwise they stop being creatures at end of turn and the swords fall off. (However, this can also protect them from board wipes!)
