A typical Horde deck is made up of 100 cards. 60 of the cards should be creatures and this includes tokens that you may want to use as creatures. The remaining 40 cards are non-creature spells. My rules for each of the Horde's waves slightly differ from the Wiki linked above. Please see the Rules for the Horde section below.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Win Conditions (modified from the wiki)"},{"insert":"\n1. The Horde wins if The Survivors' group life total is reduced to zero or below.\n2. The Survivors win if The Horde has no cards in its library, no cards in its hand, and creatures are in a combination of being permanently \"detained,\" exiled, or otherwise removed from the battlefield. \n3. Detained is where the creature can't attack or block.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Rules for the Horde (modified from the wiki)"},{"insert":"\n1. The Horde always goes first after the survivor's have finished setting up their field. The Horde's turn starts by revealing cards from the top of its library until a non-creature card is revealed.\n2. All revealed creature cards are then cast.\n3. All revealed non-creature cards are then cast.\n4. Then, if applicable, The Horde casts any cards that can be cast from its graveyard.\n\nAnytime The Horde would draw a card, it will instead cast a card from the top of it's library equal to the amount of cards that would have been drawn from the library.\nThe Horde has no player, it pilots itself. Any choice The Horde must make should be made as randomly as possible, and if its not possible then a choice should be made where it most benefits The Horde.\nThe Horde has an infinite amount of mana at all times and can use mana in any color combination.\nAll creatures controlled by The Horde have Haste and \"This creature must attack each turn if able\" unless it has a tap ability. If it does, and its the last creature on The Horde's battlefield that isn't detained, then it will attack The Survivor's group.\nThe Horde has no life total. Damage dealt to The Horde causes that number of cards from the top of The Horde's library to be put into its graveyard.\nIf a target has to be declared for one of The Horde's spells, then it should be randomized whenever possible. For example, if a spell will deal 4 damage and the targets are a 2/2, a 3/2, a 1/1, and a 5/5 and then the randomization lands on the 5/5 then it would make more sense for the Horde to have the 4 damage be dealt to something it can kill.\nThe Survivors can talk about which target would be most beneficial to the Horde and make the decision that way. \nRandomization can be done by assigning each valid target a number, then roll a die. What ever the result is will be the target the spell will target.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Rules for the Survivors (from the wiki)"},{"insert":"\nThe Survivors have 3 to 5 turns to set their battlefield before The Horde gets its first turn. Then turns alternate like normal.\nThe Survivors can't attack or target The Horde during their set up phase.\nLike in Two-Headed Giant, The Survivors are a team and all take their turn simultaneously. The Survivors attack and block as a team.\nEach Survivor contributes 20 life to the group life total.\nSurvivors can't attack and can't target The Horde during their set up turns.\nEach Survivor can help each other block attacking creatures. This deck building option is left for you to adjust on your own.\nCards and Tokens included in the deck should be thematic, flavorful, and/or fun as well.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Notes"},{"insert":"\n3 turn set up seems too low, 5 turn set up for survivors seems about right.\nCan increase difficulty by replacing a few non-elite zombie creatures with elite zombie creatures.\nCan increase the waves per turn to increase the difficulty.\nCan increase difficulty by allowing The Horde to place cards from the graveyard back on top of the library equal to the amount of life it gains from any spells that it casts.\nI lost track of 2 cards and I can't figure out which 2 are missing from the card list, its currently at 198 cards. Physically counting the cards places it at 200 cards total as of 3/17/25, I'm too lazy to go back and count everything =)\nThis was designed for 60 card pauper decks. Infinite combos is a cheap way to cheese the Horde, so that may not be the most fun way to design the Survivor's decks. I have play tested this with jank decks that I made for my play group and we had a lot of fun with them.\n"}]}
