{"ops":[{"insert":"I just made this deck because I like the art on Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit. There are countless mon-white commanders that are way better, but I tried to make her work. \n\nThe plan is to have a lot of smaller creatures with ETB effects, wipe the board, revive all our creatures, getting all their ETB effects and buffing them with counters from Anafenza, and then attacking for the win before anyone can rebuild. That's the main plan anyway. There are some alternate wincons in here that revolve around having a lot of creatures, and Thousand Moons Smithy can put out a lot of artifacts that can get really big. \n\nThis deck kind of goes in a few different directions, but they end up working, probably because they all involve putting a lot of creatures on the board. Anafenza's ability doesn't work with tokens, but there are still a lot of token makers in here. I tried several builds of this commander without token makers, but they have all been very underwhelming. This has been the best iteration of decks with Anafenza as the commander that I have made. \n\nAnafenza, and mono-white in general, are pretty weak, but there are some key cards that add some power to the deck despite not having a ton of synergy, mainly Luminarch Ascension and Teferi's Protection. Still there are some really strong cards with a lot of synergy like Hourglass of the Lost, Wand of the Worldsoul, Three Tree City, Slate of Ancestry, and Catapult Squad. Okay, Catapult Squad is a bit of a meme card, but it's really cool. Almost all the token makers in this deck make soldier tokens, and Anafenza and Catapult Squad are soldiers themselves, and there are quite a few other soldiers in the deck. This soldier sub-theme actually gives Catapult Squad some threatening power against attackers, and Three Tree City can make a lot of mana. Nythos, Shrine to Nyx would be great in this deck too of course, but it is really expensive and I don't already own it, so I don't have it in this list, but if you have it or are willing to spend the money or proxy it, definitely slot it in. There is still some solid ramp in this deck. Speaking of ramp, I don't have a Sol Ring or Arcane Signet in this deck. Strange for commander, yeah, but Sol Ring isn't as useful as normal since there are a lot of white pips in this deck and not a ton of colorless pips, especially if Pearl Medallion is out, so having an early Sol Ring just kind of puts an undeserved target on you, and I don't have the arcane signet or other small mana rocks because I just want my ramp in this deck to feel more impactful. Matzalantli and The Golden Throne kind of work in this deck because there is another small subtheme of sacrificing, discarding, or just killing our own creatures to bring them back from the grave. There is a lot of recursion in this deck so we can safely trash our ETB creatures one way or another through a wrath or sacrifice them to bring them back for another ETB later. Having a bunch in the graveyard and then using Ascend from Avernus or Storm of Souls can really swing the game. Emeria the Sky Ruin and Court of Ardenvale give some slower, consistent recursion over the course of a game, which can be great too. \n\nEven with all these token makers and reanimating cards, Anafenza still matters in the deck. She makes sure creatures always re-enter with a little bit of extra power and toughness, and those counters can be amplified with a few cards in the deck. Again, this deck just wants to put a ton of creatures on the board. Anafenza puts counters on most of those creatures, and then Metastatic Evangel or Grateful Apparition will increase them fairly quickly, and Lae'Zel and a random Prairie Dog can basically double those counters since they are all applied one at a time in this deck. Steelburr Champion is just strong on its own, and Guide of Souls is amazing in this deck with so many creature ETBs. Generous Pup is an AMAZING new card from Foundations Jump Start. As long as all your creatures have at least 2 toughness, when Generous Pup comes down, you can put a counter on it with Anafenza, and then it puts a counter on EVERY other creature you have out, just for 2 mana on a 2/2 body. With Lae'Zel out, that's 2 counters on every creature, and with a wide board, that is a huge boost.\n\nAt its core, this is a very fair deck. No crazy combos, fast mana, or broken abilities, but it can still make a presence in a game, and do so while being in-flavor. Making a bunch of soldiers and having hordes creatures die and come back to live with a spirit soldier as a commander? Sounds pretty good. But how is \"Prairie Dog\" a squirrel??? \n"}]}
